Most CIA candidates are working professionals balancing full-time jobs and other responsibilities, not students who can block off weeks to study full-time. A flexible format makes it easier to fit study sessions around a busy schedule.

Support quality is something I pay a lot of attention to when I’m reviewing any test prep course, because it tends to be the thing that’s overlooked until you really need it. 

• Multi-channel support: Surgent offers support via chat and phone, plus a customer service team that includes accounting and finance experts. 
• Access duration: Premier provides 24 months, while Essentials provides 18 months. I think both are reasonable, but for what it’s worth, I do think anyone who has an unpredictable schedule should probably opt for Premier. 
• Accessible across all devices: The platform functions consistently whether you’re on a desktop at home or your phone on the go.

Surgent is all about efficiency, and since I’m all about working smarter, not harder, I’m a fan. PRC’s CIA Prep takes a more hands-on instructional approach and centers its program around live virtual classroom sessions with over 70 hours of live training per course. Missed a class? Recordings are available. And even though I’m more of a self-studier, I did find I liked having access to an instructor. PRC offers something Becker’s self-paced model doesn’t replicate, so that might be something to think about.

HOCK International approaches CIA prep differently, leading with Brian Hock’s engaging classroom-style video lectures and over 42 hours of instruction—making it a great fit for visual and auditory learners—at a price point that’s lower than most competitors. HOCK also offers unlimited access until you pass, no-expiration materials, and a student forum for instructor support. Bottom Line

After testing the platform and working through parts of the course, I’d say Surgent CIA Review is a great choice for most CIA candidates—especially working internal auditors who need to study efficiently around a full-time job.
