Gleim CPA Review: Does It Match Your Study Style In 2026?

Gleim CPA Review gets good reviews and has a massive question bank, but that doesn’t automatically mean it’s the right fit for your learning style. Choosing a CPA prep course is stressful, especially when you’re balancing exam fees, study schedules, and real life.

And despite all the talk about AI changing accounting, the profession is still growing. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects 5% job growth for accountants and auditors through 2034, which is faster than average.

With real CPA candidates in mind, I worked through Gleim’s course materials, testing the user experience, practice questions, video lectures, instructors, and more to see whether it actually delivers where it matters most.

Gleim CPA Review Is Best If…

  • If you want the biggest question bank, then Gleim is one of the best CPA review choices because it includes 12,000+ MCQs and 1,600+ TBSs.
  • If you struggle with long study sessions, then Gleim’s short videos and compact study units make it easier to keep moving.
  • If you care more about utility than flashy design, then Gleim’s layout is excellent because everything is exactly where you need it.
  • If you want polished entertainment-style lectures, then Becker or UWorld may feel more engaging.
  • If you like direct, no-drama teaching, then Gleim’s instructor style may be a great fit.

Gleim CPA Review Overview

Gleim

Gleim CPA Review is a full CPA exam prep course built around SmartAdapt, a large practice bank, digital books, video lectures, mock exams, audio lectures, flashcards, study planning tools, and different support levels depending on the package.

Gleim is particularly impressive in a few areas:

  1. The question bank size (over 13,600 questions total)
  2. The study flow, Gleim has one of my favorite layouts
  3. Bite-sized lessons for increased focus and less dread

It sounds unimportant, but Gleim’s layout never fails to impress me. I never felt like I had to hunt around, open five different tabs, or figure out what to do next. I finished one step, clicked forward, and kept going, all in perfectly-sized sections.

Many CPA courses can make one section feel like a two- or three-hour commitment, but Gleim often breaks study units into smaller 20- to 40-minute chunks, and the videos I reviewed averaged around five minutes. If you struggle to get through the slog of studying, I think you’ll appreciate the quick dopamine hits built into Gleim’s layout.

Pros

✅ Huge practice bank: 12,000+ MCQs and 1,600+ TBSs is a major advantage.
✅ Excellent layout: The course is easy to move through without wasting time.
✅ Short lessons: Great for bite-sized studying and shorter attention spans.
✅ Clear instruction: Denise Probert explains concepts calmly and directly.
✅ Helpful answer support: Short explanations link back to the relevant outline when you need more detail.

Cons

❌ Not as visually polished as Becker: The platform is practical, but not quite as premium-looking.
❌ Answer explanations can be brief: They are useful, but some students may want more detail directly in the explanation.

Videos, Instructors, and Learning Experience

Gleim’s videos are short, clean, and practical. Based on my experience, the average video length was around five minutes, which made the course feel much easier to chip away at. That’s a major selling point for students who don’t want every study session to feel like a marathon.

Denise Probert, CPA, CGMA, is the lead instructor I spent the most time with, and I thought she was strong in a very specific way. She is not trying to be Peter Olinto or Roger Philipp. There isn’t a big “CPA review personality” performance happening. Instead, she has a clear voice, steady pacing, and a way of explaining concepts that made them easier for me to process.

Some students will prefer that. Olinto and Philipp are excellent, but they are also big personalities. Sometimes you just want someone to tell you what you need to know, explain it clearly, and move on. Gleim does that well.

I also liked the video screen layout. The lecture takes up the left side of the page, while the outline and notes sit on the right. It is extremely convenient for note-taking because you can watch, follow the outline, and write notes without rearranging windows or jumping around the platform.

Practice Questions and Answer Explanations

Gleim’s question bank is the main event: you will probably never get through all 12,000+ MCQs and 1,600+ TBSs. But what I liked most was that it didn’t feel like Gleim was dumping all of that on me at once.

The course breaks things into smaller chunks, so I could get through a short video, answer a few questions, review what I missed, and move on. That made studying feel more doable. With some CPA courses, one section can feel like a whole evening. Gleim was easier to fit into a normal day.

The explanations are a little short, usually around 100–150 words. I did wish they went deeper sometimes. But Gleim does something smart: it links you right back to the relevant outline section. So when an explanation wasn’t enough, I didn’t have to go searching for the topic myself.

Overall, the question experience feels efficient. It’s not the most visual or hand-holdy, but it works well if you learn by practicing and reviewing quickly.

Value of Gleim CPA Review

Gleim’s value comes from how usable it is. The platform is not as pretty as Becker, but I actually liked using it more. Everything was where I expected it to be, and I never felt like I was wasting time trying to figure out what to click next.

That matters when you’re already tired from studying. Gleim makes it easy to sit down, finish a small section, and feel like you made progress. The short videos help a lot here. Instead of committing to a long lecture block, I could knock out a lesson in a few minutes and keep moving.

The course is especially strong for students who want a lot of practice without a messy study flow. Premium is probably the best fit for most people because it adds more access and support, but even the core Gleim experience is valuable because the structure is so easy to stick with.

Support, Access, and Guarantees

Gleim’s access depends on the package, so this is worth paying attention to before choosing. Traditional is more limited, while Premium and Premium Pro give you more long-term protection with Access Until You Pass.

I did not need much help using the platform itself because the layout was so straightforward. The video, outline, notes, and study planner setup made studying feel organized from the start. That said, I still think the support upgrades in Premium and Premium Pro matter, especially if you want access to accounting experts or you’re worried about your CPA timeline stretching out.

For me, this is less about flashy support features and more about peace of mind. If you know you’ll move quickly, Traditional may be enough. If you want more breathing room, Premium is the safer choice.

Gleim vs. Becker CPA Review

Becker is the stronger overall course if you want the most polished CPA review experience. Its platform looks more premium, the lectures are more engaging, and its support ecosystem is excellent. Becker is also a better fit for students who want a more traditional guided course with polished slides, high-production videos, SkillBuilder walkthroughs, and stronger package-based support.

Gleim is better if your priority is practice volume and study efficiency. The question bank is larger, the lessons are shorter, and the course flow is easier to move through quickly.

Pick Becker if you want a more well-rounded course overall, but go with Gleim if you want the best practice-heavy study experience without long lecture blocks.

Gleim vs. UWorld CPA Review

UWorld is a strong choice for visual learners. Its explanations are one of its biggest advantages, and the course has energetic instructors like Roger Philipp and Peter Olinto. UWorld also lists 1,400+ video lectures, 9,000+ MCQs, 500+ TBSs, and SmartPath technology.

Gleim is better for students who want more practice and shorter study sessions. It has more MCQs, far more TBSs, and a layout that makes it very easy to keep progressing.

UWorld may be a better fit if you want more visual explanations and high-energy instruction. However, I’d recommend Gleim if you want a bigger test bank and a more efficient study rhythm.

Gleim vs. Surgent CPA Review

Surgent is best for students who want adaptive study technology to tell them where to focus. ReadySCORE and its predictive AI tools are built around saving time and helping candidates study weaker areas first. Surgent’s Ultimate Pass also includes unlimited access until you pass, 9,000+ MCQs, and 500+ simulations.

Gleim is the stronger option if you want more depth and more practice. Its test bank is much larger, and the course feels more complete for students who want to work through a lot of material.

Surgent is better for speed and adaptive targeting, but Gleim wins if you want a more thorough, practice-first course.

Gleim vs. Lambers CPA Review

Lambers is a more traditional, budget-friendly CPA prep option. It is not trying to compete with Gleim on massive question volume. In fact, Lambers says it does not offer 10,000 questions by design, and instead focuses on targeted testing through Pre-Test, Adaptive, and Simulated modes.

Gleim is the better fit for most candidates who want a full CPA review course with a large test bank, study planning, videos, mock exams, books, support, and access options. Lambers can still make sense if you want a simpler, more affordable test-prep approach.

Choose Gleim if you want a more robust CPA course, or go with Lambers if you want straightforward practice without paying for a premium platform.

Final Verdict: Is Gleim CPA Review Worth It?

Gleim CPA Review is absolutely worth considering, especially if you want a CPA course that is practical, efficient, and loaded with practice. Its biggest strength is the combination of a massive test bank and a study layout that makes it easy to keep moving. The videos are short, the platform is simple, and the overall experience is built for students who want to make steady progress without getting stuck in long lecture blocks.

Overall, Gleim is one of the strongest picks, especially for practice-heavy learners, students with shorter attention spans, and candidates who want to feel like they are constantly checking off manageable sections.
